When the station was sold to new owners, Maria’s career path led to Dallas and a fill-in stint on a syndicated morning show at Kiss 106 and then 3 years as Morning Host at a station in San Francisco, California but Houston was home so she returned in 2010 for a short stint at Mix 96-5 before going back to her first love in radio-news. She currently works as a reporter for News 92FM.

Her media experience doesn’t stop at radio. Maria has been an Entertainment Contributor at KHOU-11 and Fox 26 as well as writing columns for local magazines. She also dabbled in the world of sports as PA Announcer for the Houston Energy (women’s professional football team) and most notably as PA Announcer for the 4-time champion Houston Comets WNBA team. She’s also tried her hand at academia teaching a broadcast performance class at Alvin Community College.

Hosting Real Talk is a dream come true because in her words “I pursued media as a career as a way of telling stories, not only mine but those of others. This show lets me get vital information out to the community, particularly women so that we can have an informed discussion on events that affect us. I get a chance to hear women’s stories and to help them share those stories for the benefit of us all.”
